Linda Bitteker Obituary
LINDA S. BITTEKER - passed away on September 14, 2005 at her Amelia Island, Florida home, with family at her side, after a ten year fight with breast cancer. Linda is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dennis J. Bitteker and their two sons, Todd Michael of Connecticut and Bret Thomas of Michigan. Linda and her husband have two grandsons, Justin Tyler and Alex Ryan of New Milford, CT.
Linda is the daughter of Mary Ellen Rogers and the late George C. Rogers of Clayton. Linda is survived by three brothers, Michael and Kenneth of Clayton, Lonnie of Sackets Harbor and three sisters, Patricia LeConey of Clayton, Marcia Rogers of Buffalo, and Barbara Morrow of LaFargeville, NY.
Born in Syracuse, NY on May 30, 1950, Linda grew up in Clayton, NY. Linda married Dennis on September 7, 1968. Linda and her family have resided in Syracuse, Chenango Bridge, North Salem, NY, and in Ridgefield and Stamford, CT. After delaying her career for eight years to establish her family, Linda graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Connecticut State University with her BBA in Accounting followed by her MBA in Finance from Pace University. She earned her CPA and was licensed in CT, NY, and NJ. Linda joined the original Big-8 accounting firm, Touche Ross, on February 2, 1981 as a junior accountant. She was named partner nine years later, being in the first class of partners admitted to the new merged firm Deloitte & Touche. Linda served a large base of clients and held several key management positions. Linda also served on international assignment, as a charter accountant, in Deloitte's UK practice headquartered in London. She was widely recognized and sought as a mentor and confidant. 'LB' retired in May 2005 after a 24 year career with D&T. When Linda retired, she held the position of Partner-in-Charge for D&T's large tri-state audit practice located in Stamford, CT.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of Linda Susan Bitteker. Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors in Florida handled the arrangements. A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life, will be held at the Woodway Country Club, 540 Hoyt Street, Darien, CT on October 19th, 2005 beginning at 5:00 p.m.
