Lynn Moore Obituary

Moore, Lynn W.
Lynn Moore, 87, from Longboat Key, FL and Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7. He was the beloved husband of Barbara G. (Hodges) Moore for 63 years.
Lynn was born in Ogden, Utah, the only child of the late Wallace and Martha (Dodson) Moore. He served his country at the start of the Korean War, enlisting in the Army at 17, and was stationed in South Korea.
After his military service, he attended the University of Colorado, where he studied accounting and met his future wife. He graduated in 1952 and was married to Barbara later in the same year. The couple then moved to Chicago, where Lynn started his career with a prominent accounting firm. He then went to work for the Hertz Corporation: a career path that led him to relocate his young family to the New York area, settling in Rye, NY. Rising through the ranks at Hertz, he went on to hold a top position at the firm and the title of Executive Vice President. He then embarked on a career as an entrepreneur and moved his family of four to Littleton, Colorado, where he became partners with a close college friend in a construction company that specialized in drilling caissons. The family then moved to Greenwich, CT, where Lynn concluded his career as President of his own company, Management Recruiters of Fairfield County and Management Recruiters of Manatee County, Florida.
In Lynn's spare time he enjoyed the Senior Men's Club in Stamford, the Mianus River Boat Club, loved to play golf, and was an avid boater. He was also active in his church in Greenwich and Longboat Key.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Lynette Mathias and her husband Stephen (Ridgefield, CT) and David Moore and his wife Enza (Darien, CT). Also surviving are his precious grandchildren: Jason Mathias and his wife Anne, Brian Mathias, Sara Josephson and her husband Matt, Victoria Moore and Ryan Moore. He was also very proud of his three great-grandchildren: Jack, Kate and Molly Lynn Mathias.
Friends are invited to a celebration of his life on Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich--1 West Putnam Ave. Greenwich, CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich or Christ Church of Longboat Key, Longboat Key, FL.
