Mary Chiappetta Obituary

MARY B. CHIAPPETTA - died peacefully December 11, 2005.

Born Mary Catherine Borchetta on October 16, 1919 in Greenwich, CT, she grew up and spent most of her life in Greenwich. She graduated from Greenwich High School, class 1938. She married Peter R. Chiappetta on February 16, 1947 and together they raised two children. Mary, as head of the mothers' club, was actively involved at St. Mary's Church in Greenwich, a dedicated volunteer at Greenwich Hospital, a Board Member of the Greenwich Women's Club and a Cofounder of Meals-on-Wheels. She moved to Fort Myers, FL when her husband retired in 1977. She happily returned to CT and her extended family in 2000, where she lived in Stamford. Mary was small in size and big in spirit. Her skills in the kitchen will fondly be remembered by all who were lucky enough to dine at her table.

Surviving are her husband of almost 60 years, Peter Rocco, a son, Peter Anthony Chiappetta of Westport, CT, a daughter Joan C. Benson of Greenwich, CT, a step-son Lawrence Chiappetta of Rumford, RI and nine dearly loved grandchildren, Ned, Barnes & Hartman Benson and Anne, Jennifer, David, Amy, Sarah and Peter N. Chiappetta. She was pre-deceased by her parents Frank & Josephine Borchetta and seven brothers and sisters.

A private burial service will held on Saturday December 17 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich, CT. A memorial service for extended family and friends will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Castiglione Funeral Home in Greenwich, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Mary's name to The Greenwich Hospital Association that she loved.
