R. John Young, Jr.
R. John Young, Jr. passed away on December 31, 2022 at age 76. A longtime resident of Stamford, John was born in New York City on October 4, 1946, (later designated as National Vodka Day by sheer coincidence), the only child of the late Raymond John Young and Phyllis W. Young. He spent many summers at his family's home in West Paris, Maine. He is survived by his wife, Chrys-Ann and his adored sons, Brian of Las Vegas, NV and Timothy of Stamford. John was raised in Douglaston, NY and he attended Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey. He graduated from Boston University with a degree in English Literature. After a brief stint on Wall Street, he went to work for a major reinsurance company and never looked back, working for various specialty insurance companies, most recently, Amwins Brokerage. He was a devoted husband, amazing father and loyal friend. With a great wit and wonderful storyteller, John made friends everywhere. Besides his family, his other love was golf and he was exceptionally proud whenever playing with his sons. In addition to his family he is survived by a host of valued golf partners, longtime business colleagues, other friends and his childhood friend, Michael.
Visitation will be at the Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home 104 Myrtle Ave, Stamford, CT 06902 on Saturday January 14, 2023 from 1pm to 2:30pm with a brief memorial to follow. Burial will be private.
