RICHARD IAN ALLISON
Dick Allison, 73, passed away at Advent Health Center in Zephyr Hills, Florida on September 7th. Dick ("doc" to his friends) was born and raised in Stamford. He attended St. John's elementary school and Rippowam High School. After high school, he went on to Norwalk Community College, Unity College in Maine, and Emporia State College in Kansas.
Dick worked for Pitney Bowes in Stamford for several years before moving to Syracuse, NY to work at radio station WSYR. After the station was sold, he briefly moved back to Stamford before moving back to upstate NY to the town of Hadley, then Saratoga Springs where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. A disability forced him into early retirement and he decided to spend his "Golden Years" in the warmth and sunshine of Florida in Zephyr Hills.
Dick loved to act and appeared in several local amateur productions starting in his teens, with Stage Door for Youth, through his twenties. Even when not on stage, Dick was always "in character" and ready to entertain. He was an avid NY Yankees and LA Rams fan. He loved to go to NYC for Yankee games, rock concerts and the annual San Genaro Feast. Among his favorite things, also, were the Moody Blues, the Wizard of OZ, hanging out at "the farm," fireworks on the 4th of July and relaxing with family and friends. Dick was a truly unique person and will be missed by all who knew him.
Dick is survived by his sister Bonnie (Don), his brother John (Judy), along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
There will be no calling hours or service. Burial will be private.
"Turn out the lights, the party's over". Rest in peace, Brother.
