Richard Vecchio Obituary

Richard Del Vecchio Sr.
Richard Del Vecchio Sr., a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Harrison, NY on September 12, 1934 and was one of five children born to the late Leonard Del Vecchio, Sr. and Assunta (Festo) Del Vecchio. Richard was 86 years old at the time of his passing.
Richard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years before starting his career of 34 years with Yankee Gas, where he retired as a supervisor. Through his life Richard was an avid hunter, enjoyed working in his garden and was especially proud of his tomatoes and hot peppers. He was very proud to be a part of the non-profit organization Hope For Recovery. Every Sunday he was out feeding and caring for the homeless and helping people who struggle with addiction and mental health issues. He loved his family and worked very hard to give them a beautiful life.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carole (Caputo), and is survived by his children, Jodi Del Vecchio, Richard Del Vecchio, Jr. and his wife Lori and Robyn Bakes and her husband Dimitri; his grandchildren, Alicia Del Vecchio, Richard Del Vecchio III; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Rosemary Del Vecchio and sister-in-law, Rose Caputo and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his spouse, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings Margaret Del Vecchio, Leonard Del Vecchio Jr. and Daniel Del Vecchio Sr. and by his in-laws Marie Taylor, Antonio Caputo, Gloria Caputo and Lorraine Romano.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Rd., Stamford, CT 06903. The interment with military honors will immediately follow at St. John R.C. Cemetery in Darien, CT.

Richie & all of Dick’s family,
I’m so sorry to hear about Dick’s passing. He was a great guy I enjoyed working with him before Yankee Gas spun off from CL&P. God bless him and all of you during this difficult time.
