Rita Skornik

RITA SKORNIK, 83, a lifetime resident of Stamford , passed away on November 2, 2008 at The Stamford Hospital surrounded by her family. Rita was born November 1, 1925 to the late Esther and Al Samiloff. She is survived by her loving husband, of 62 years Joel Skornik; her children Chryl and Chuck Axelrod and Ellen Schiavone; grandchildren, Michael Axelrod, Shannon Short, Scott and Cortney Axelrod, Sarah Nicholle Schiavone; great grand-children, Jacob Hermansen, Hailey Povisil, Benjamin Axelrod, Mickayla and Dylin; and Phyllis Kieva, sister-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister Harry, Bernard and Rose Samiloff and her beloved grandchildren Holly-Jayne and Joseph Angelo Schiavone. Rita was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved taking care of others and nurturing them. She will be greatly missed and loved forever. Graveside services will be held at the Independent Stamford Lodge Cemetery Monday November 3, 2008 at 3:00 PM. The Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home are handling the arrangements. The family requests that any donations be made to the Westover School PTO, Congregation Agudath Sholom, or your favorite charity in Rita's memory.
