Robert Attanasio Obituary

Robert Joseph Attanasio
Aug 7, 1960 - Apr 24, 2021
Robert "Bob" Attanasio went to his heavenly home on April 24, 2021 at the age of 60. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him and ultimately gave him peace.
Bob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lea; his parents, Bob and Judy; his siblings, Cathy, David, and Richard; his children, Bobby Jr., Christie Lea (Matt), Sarah Michelle; his grandchildren, Eliza Lea and James Robert; as well as numerous other relatives and dear friends.
After graduating from Bucknell University, where he met his wife and best friend, Bob began his business career including time at Dictaphone, UCAN, and most recently, Hallmark Health Care Solutions, where he served as the Chief Financial Officer.
Bob was honored to serve as the president of the American Heart Association (AHA) for the tri-state area for three years. The mission of The AHA is to find treatment and a cure for the disease that he battled. Memorial donations in his name may be made online to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
Bob loved life and especially the people in it. While his life was far too short, those who knew him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Bob had a way of bringing out the best in everyone and making them feel like they were his best friend.
Bob lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed skiing, being outdoors, traveling, soccer, driving his tractor, and fine wine, but his greatest pride and joy was his family.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held in the summer, with more information to come. Plan to wear bright clothing and prepare to celebrate a very happy life filled with joy and gratitude.
The family wishes to send a special thank you for the outpouring of love and support that they have received for their son, brother, father, husband.

Fast and lasting friends with "Bobby A" since we were dorm neighbors and joined Sigma Chi together in 1978. Never a false moment in our 40+ years of friendship. One time I picked up the phone to call Bobby and he was on the other end! Terrific person of humor, empathy and integrity. Steady as a rock. I was best man in his wedding with Lea - TWICE! One in Michigan, where we painted the rock, and one in Stamford. with Bobby A, you buy one and get two, Beautiful and loving family. much love and light to Lea and the entire family.

Bobby A. An Italian - American original and friend since 1978 where we resided on the same dorm at Bucknell and pledged the same fraternity. Sigma Chi. Stayed in touch throughout the many years with plans to ski next year. Happy to have known Bobby’s entire family and ageless and energetic wife Lea. When I signed up to be his best man it wasn’t for one wedding. It was for TWO. One in Ct. and one in Michigan where we painted the rock and endured a 100 degree rehearsal. That was Bobby. Pay for one and get two!!!! Eternal love to all of his beautiful and wonderful family.

Lea, Mary and I are so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Back at Dictaphone, Bob was my boss, a mentor, and a friend. We did great things together their and I look back on those days and smile. Lessons learned from Bob have been useful throughout my professional career. Positive outlook, finding solutions to hard questions, inserting fun into the workplace, being decisive, to name a few...the list goes on.

RIP Buddy

Dear Lea & family
We are all deeply saddened by the news of Bob's passing. He was a great friend. Always so upbeat and positive. I am going to miss our get togethers watching the Final Four games, Wild Card weekend and just talking baseball. I am going to miss his amazing smile and infectious laugh. Bob would just light up when he spoke about his children. He was such a proud father and grandfather. I don't know what else to say but I am going to miss him.

We are saddened by this tragic loss of such a wonderful person. When we lived in Newtown during the 80’s, 90’s and into 2003, Bob and I played in a monthly poker game and got to be great friends. We met him for lunch or dinner in nyc a few years ago with another Newtown couple and that is the last time we saw him. To Lea and all of his children and grandchildren: our hearts go out to all of you for this sudden and tragic loss at such an early age. May his memory be a blessing.
