Robert B. Dunlop, "Bob", of Atherton, CA, and formerly from Stamford, CT, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 20 at the age of 89. Devoted husband of Luanne Dunlop, and beloved father of Candace McMahon, Cynthia Lapolla and her husband Anthony, Caryl Marchi and her husband Christopher, and Melissa Orlie and her partner Frances Kramer. He was the cherished grandfather of Brian and Caitlin McMahon, Matthew and Molly Lapolla, Thomas, William and Emma Marchi, and Simon and Madeleine Orlie-Frost. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Barbara Lockwood and her husband John, and his first wife, Mary Reilly Dunlop. Bob was born to Robert B. and Emma Miller Dunlop on July 23, 1925 in Newark, NJ. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1943-1946. Following his time in the service, he received his BSEE from Rutgers University in 1950. In 1950, Bob began his long and successful career with IBM Corporation, holding multiple positions both internationally and in the US. Bob retired from his position as IBM Vice President in 1985. Bob was an avid tennis player. He cheered for the San Jose Sharks, the Oakland A's, the New York Rangers, and his favorite, the New York Yankees. His family always enjoyed when Bob would sing and he could often be mistaken for a member of the infamous Rat Pack at the local piano bars.
