Ronald Doshna Obituary

Ronald Doshna
Ronald Doshna passed away on September 28, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Ron was born in Stamford, Connecticut on July 8, 1950, to Harry and Stella (Kopec) Doshna.
Ron lived a life defined by service, strength and unwavering devotion to his family and country. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1968-1970, including a tour in the Vietnam War with the 20th Engineer Brigade. There, he demonstrated extraordinary courage and commitment, earning a Purple Heart. His experiences in Vietnam shaped his deep bond with fellow veterans, leading him to serve as both a member and Commander of Darien VFW Post 6933 in Darien, CT, as well as a founding member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Chapter 19-3.
After 37 years with Metro-North Railroad, Ron retired and left Connecticut for his log cabin in New York, where he embraced the slower pace of life; hunting and spending time with the gang at camp or simply relaxing on his front porch.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Ron loved being surrounded by family. Whether they were playing cards, grilling, camping, or sharing family dinners, there were always plenty of good laughs and lasting memories. He had the best smile, greatest sense of humor and was the most selfless person you would ever know.
Ron leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Elaine, who was his partner in every adventure. He will be deeply missed by his children: Jennifer (Pete) Carson, Rhonda Sloper, Melanie (Josh) Palmer, Ronnie (Jessica) Doshna, and Brittany Doshna, who carry forward his strength and love. His greatest joy was being a grandpa to his grandchildren: Lee Jr. and Kelsey Sloper, Wyatt Palmer, Ronnie Jr. and Jaxon Doshna, and Danny and Everett Wells. He also leaves behind his twin brother, Dennis Doshna, and cherished by many nieces and nephews. Ron is reunited in heaven with his grandson, Bryce Palmer.
He will be laid to rest with military honors in the Essex County Veterans Cemetery, in Wadhams, NY, on October 11, 2025, at 11:00 am.
In honor of Ron and his love of riding, there will be a motorcycle escort for his final ride. All riders are invited to join in accompanying him to his final resting place. Kickstands up at 10:30 am from 241 Bay Lane, Willsboro, NY.
Following burial, you are welcome to join the family to celebrate Ron's life, share stories and memories at Noblewood, 96 Noblewood Park, Willsboro, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306, or to Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 12300 Twinbrook Parkway, Suite 410, Rockville, MD 20852.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 518-643-9055. To make a floral purchase, offer an online condolence, share a symbolic gesture, or share a photo, in memory of Ron Doshna, please visit www.hamiltonfuneralhome.com .

Dear soldier, thank you for serving our country in a war that was very tough on our soldiers coming home. You fought the good fight even wounded in the process. May you be met at heavens door by your brothers in arms many of whom never made it home. You all were more appreciated than you know. Deepest sympathy to all who loved this brave man.
