Thomas Melchionno
Thomas "Tommy" Melchionno, 89, a resident of Venice, FL, and Stamford, CT, entered eternal rest on November, 23rd, 2025, peacefully at home, surrounded by family.
Thomas was born on November, 18th 1936, in San Mango Sul Calore, Avellino, Italy, and came to the America in 1954, bringing his family over after getting settled in a new country. He attended school in Italy, then attended trade school after settling here.
Thomas worked at Pitney Bowes for 40 years and retired as Department Head/Manager. He also was a involved member of the San Manghese Social Club for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, laughing and eating. He was an avid gardener and joke teller, if you were laughing and smiling, he was happy. Anything he put his mind to he could build with his hands, and what a job he did. He took great pride in researching and sharing historical facts and family history. He enjoyed teaching his family about their history, it was always very important to him to know about those before us. He was unwavering when it came to his faith in God and a devout churchgoer, where he volunteered as an usher. Some of his favorite memories were vacations with his family and sharing his prankster stories from his youth. If you knew Tom, you knew he loved to laugh and make others laughs with his jokes and lighthearted pranks.
He'll be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his contagious laughter, his warm smile, his helping hand and long hugs. We will miss his profoundly and will always remember him in the jokes we tell, in each years harvest of the garden, in every good sauce we cook, and all he taught us to enjoy about life.
Thomas is survived by daughters, Maria Melchionno and JoAnne Melchionno, granddaughters, Melissa DeRosa and Madison Pia and great-granddaughter, Aurora Leigh DeRosa, sisters, Carmela Luchetta, Josephine and her husband Dario Lionetti, Florence Caporale(Venice, FL), son-in-law, Kenneth Pia(Norwalk, CT), nephews, David Luchetta, Dennis Luchetta, Kevin Luchetta (Karen), Gerald Caporale (Kate), and niece, Laura Scicchitano (Cosimo), and many great-nephews and nieces; and a dear long time friend Linda Sennewald.
Thomas was predeceased by his father, Gennaro Melchionno, and mother, Maria Melchionno(Cataldo), his daughter, Michelle Pia, and grandson, KJ Pia.
