Vincenza Ely Obituary

Vincenza "Winnie" Gallace Ely
Vincenza "Winnie" Gallace Ely, our beloved mom, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Winnie was born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 6,1927, to the late Angelo and Felicetta Molaro Gallace.
Growing up in Stamford, she met and married the love of her life, Ken, in August of 1946. Together they made a home and raised their four children. They lived in Stamford for 28 years before moving to Bradenton, FL, where they made their home for the next 40 years.
Over the years, she welcomed and looked forward to hosting many family and friends. Their home affectionately became known as "Win's Inn", where home made breakfasts and famous Sunday sauce were loved by all. Also, during her years in Bradenton, she was a devoted caregiver to many seniors. After Ken's passing, Winnie moved back to Stamford to be close to her children and grandchildren. She moved in to The Wormser, where she had many friends and was loved by everyone.
Winnie is survived by her children, Glen Ely (Joyce) and Phyllis Ely Bria (Rick); her nine grandchildren: Michael Ely, Krista Ely Mondschein (Andrew), Danny Bria (Kristyn), Mark Bria (Amy), Jamie Ely Landi (Giovanni), Brett Ely, Justin Ely (Dipali), Brooke Ely Miller (Robert) and Lara Ely; four great-grandchildren; brother, Gus Gallace (Hilda); and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Kenneth N. Ely Sr.; two sons, Kenneth N. Ely Jr. and Donald Ely; sister, Jennie Gallace Ely; and stepsister, Pat Bellantonio.
Winnie will be remembered for her beautiful smile and for the way she lived her life… with kindness and love.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, at St. Cecilia Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905. A private inurnment will follow Mass at St. John Cemetery in Darien.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to DAV – Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, or online at www.help.dav.org .

I was school friends with her son Donald back in the 1950s and 1960s. Something Don and I had in common was that our mothers had the same Italian first name. I remember seeing her when Don lived on Culloden Rd back then. She was a very kind and gentle woman. My sincere condolences to the family.
