William Munko Obituary

William P. (Bill) Munko
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William P. (Bill) Munko, a longtime resident of Stamford, who died peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the age of 85.
Bill was the beloved husband of Dolores Munko, with whom he shared 64 years of a beautiful and enduring marriage. He was a devoted family man and is survived by his loving wife; his daughter, Linda Gilmore (Bernie); his son, Bill Munko (Lisa); his brothers, John (Paula) and Richard Munko; three grandchildren (Brittany, Paul, Ryan) and one great-grandchild (Nikhil) all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
A proud graduate of Stamford High School and Norwalk State Technical College, Bill dedicated his career to the field of precision engineering, retiring in 1999 after many successful years.
Family was the cornerstone of Bill's life. He deeply cherished family gatherings and was the quintessential host, often found expertly manning the grill at the many lively parties he and Dolores hosted over the years. Upon retirement, Bill and Dolores embarked on a new chapter, traveling extensively and regularly for over a dozen years creating lasting memories together.
Beyond his family life and career, Bill was an active member of the Stamford Men's Club where he enjoyed the many programs they offered each week. He also maintained an avid passion for tennis throughout most of his adult life, a sport he played with enthusiasm and skill. In his later years, Bill found great happiness and camaraderie at the Prospect Senior Center, where he spent many hours playing pinochle and bocce.
Following a private burial, a celebration of Bill's life will be planned for the Spring of 2026, allowing family and friends to gather and honor his memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any contributions in Bill's memory be made to the Prospect Senior Center, 6 Center Street, Prospect, CT 06712, the community hub that brought him so much happiness.

Dear Lisa, Bill and Paul: I am so sorry about the loss of your beloved dad/grandfather. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Munko, I know he was a true gentleman because Lisa loved him like he was her own dad. Lisa always speaks so highly of both Mr. and Mrs. Munko. I know Lisa's dad, Paul Berkowitz, greeted Mr. Munko at the gates of heaven with loving arms. My love, thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Love always, Linda Lombardo
