It is with great sadness that the family of Alan Hersker announce his passing on Monday at the age of 88 in Dallas, Ga., due to congestive heart failure.
Alan was born Sept. 16, 1933, in Hazleton, to Harry and Dororthy (Haen) Hersker. He graduated from MMI Preparatory High School in 1951, served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and married Jean Ann Meier in 1958. They resided in the Hazleton area until 1982, when they relocated to Raritan, N.J. They lived in Flemington, N.J., from 1985 until 2017, when they moved to Dallas, Ga.
Mr. Hersker was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church, Flemington, N.J.
Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ann; his parents, Harry and Dorothy; as well as his brothers, Harry, David and Lee; and his sister, Cheryl.
He is survived by his brother, Terry; his sons, Alan Lee and Steven; daughter-in-law, Rebecca; and grandsons, Jacob and Ryan.
The family would like to thank all of the amazing, loving staff and care givers at Oaks at Acworth Assisted Living (formerly the Overlook Assisted Living Facility).
A memorial and interment for Alan and Jean Ann will be held at a later date at the family cemetery in Barnesville. For further details, contact the family at the address below.
In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Alan to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, CureAlz .org, 34 Washington St., Suite 310, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481, or the charity of their choice.
