Anne L. Border, formerly of Freeland, known lovingly by her extended family as "Nita", passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the age of 91, at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, Drums.
She had been a resident at the facility for the past 8 years. Born in Freeland March 6, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Machella) Boder. She was a 1948 graduate of Foster Township High School. Upon graduation she attended the University of Pennsylvania and completed the medical technician course receiving certification. She had a successful career and became the head lab technician at the University of Pennsylvania Blood Bank.
Anne later worked at the pathology laboratory at Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, from where she retired. Upon retirement she returned to Freeland where she was active at the former St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and currently at the Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann's Church, both of Freeland. As a lector at the church she was very proud of her ability to speak the English language properly.
She loved both music and the arts and was especially fond of the opera. She loved to travel and visited throughout the United States and abroad. Visits to her ancestral homeland of Hungary and Slovakia were especially meaningful.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were siblings, Emil, Helen, Agnes, John, Mary, Joseph, Stephen, Edward and Thomas. Surviving are a sister, Dolores Brosk, Conyngham, a brother, George Boder and wife, Carla, Knoxville, TN, and numerous nephews and nieces, to whom she was always loving and generous.
Reverend Steven Brosk will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 898 Centre Street, Freeland, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery, Freeland.
Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Pennsylvania Pro Life Federation, 4800 Jonestown Rd #102, Harrisburg, PA 17109, or the charity of your choice.
