Edith K. Subacz, 87, of Hazleton, passed away Dec. 19 at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazle Twp.
Born in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Hannah (Fegley) Fritz.
She was a faithful parishioner who served many different roles in the former St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Hazleton, for many years and then continued on with the former Diamond United Methodist Church, Hazleton.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Peter Subacz Jr., in 2009; son-in-law, Alfred Bennett; sister, Esther Vavro; and brothers, Harold, Robert, Teddy, William and Russell Fritz.
Surviving are her daughter, Donna Bennett, with whom she resided; grandchildren, Stacey Maurer and husband, Bryan; Sherry Postupack and husband, Matthew; and Lori Bennett and companion, Adam Eckert; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kaitlyn and Ty Maurer, Alyssa Haraschak, Matthew and Nicholas Postupack; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday from Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, with the Revs. Evelyn Stupp and Earl Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Mount Laurel Memorial Park, Hazleton. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
