Edward M. Olexa Jr., 79, beloved father and brother, passed away Jan. 31 at his home with his three daughters by his side, always and to the end.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Dolores C. (Jacobs) Olexa and Edward M. Olexa Sr.
Edward had two loves of his life, Martha M. Olexa, (deceased) and Linda L. Olexa (surviving).
Edward is survived by his daughters, Dr. Michelle Olexa and her husband, Dr. Brian Andrews; Heather C. Olexa, and Nicole Tomsho; brothers and sisters, Donna Liott and husband, Anthony; Sandy Fritz and husband, Milo; Lawrence Olexa and wife, Denise; Linda Johnson; Dennis Olexa and wife, Paula; and Susan Salvaterra; grandchildren, Hannah T. Molinaro and Jude S. Tobias; and many nieces and nephews and their beautiful children.
It is an arduous attempt to sum up such a man. Edward was logical, wise, compassionate, effortlessly witty and above all, cool. A true polymath, surpassing traditional education and philosophy.
He had a genuine way of being and his legacy will reside in the love of his family, balance and respect for others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ASPCA in honor of Edward's many pets, Ginger, Max, Sammy and (replacement Sammy) Binky, among many, many others that were loved.
There is no man whom will be missed more.
Respects can be paid from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., 542 N. Wyoming St., Hazleton.
Interment services will be private and for Edward's immediate family only.

Eddie was my 2nd cousin and my age. Eddie Sr. was my 1st. cousin and his father was my uncle Mike on my dad's (Joseph) side. I'm very proud of them all and pray that they were all children of God saved by Jesus; and we will, one day, be together again. I was just a kid, but sorry to say, have been out of touch. I can recall that Eddie Jr. was a star at St. Gabriel's HS in Hazleton. I was a Hazleton HS mountaineer at the same time, class of 62. Condolences and best wishes to all Eddie's friends and family. Please trust in Jesus.
