Frank Ancharski Obituary

Frank D. "Buddy" Ancharski, 87, of Drums, passed away early Friday morning at St. Luke's Manor, Hazleton, following a brief illness.

Born in Hazleton, March 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Shambelan) Ancharski and spent the past 20 years in Drums, after moving from West Hazleton.

Buddy was a printer for The Citizens' Voice Newspaper, Wilkes-Barre, until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, Sugarloaf Twp., and of the International Typographers Union Communication Workers of America. He was a huge Penn State and pro football fan. Buddy loved playing darts and cards, spending time with the whole family and selling 50/50s at the Ancharski Reunions.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife, Barbara (Baradziej) Ancharski, on June 26, 2007; 10 brothers, Phillip, Charles, John "Jackie," Richard, James, Joseph, Thomas, Paul, William and Robert Ancharski: six sisters, Violet Oswald, Louise Stefankiewicz, Joan Ancharski, Helen Haber, Anna Hoinberg and Leona Shergalis; and father and mother-in-law, Bernard "Bernie" and Theresa (Koziel) Baradziej.

Surviving are three children, Frank Ancharski and wife, Judy, Mooresville, N.C.; Randy Ancharski and wife, Amy, Burlington, N.J.; and James Ancharski and wife, Patti, Buckeye, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Eli, Tiffany, Caleb, Noah, Lauren, Randall and Carolyn; two sisters, Peggy Breslin, Levittown; and Dolly Oscovitch, Eagle Rock; over 50 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held with a Memorial Mass of Catholic Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf Twp., followed by interment in Transfiguration Church Cemetery, West Hazleton. Friends may call for a memorial visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, and from 9 a.m. to service time at the church Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Buddy's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Lusgarten Foundation or Alzheimer's Association. Condolences can be entered and information is available at www.harmanfuneral.com.
