Jacqueline "Jackie" Donahue, 61, of Hazleton passed away Tuesday in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
Jackie was born in Hazleton, Sept. 12, 1961, and was a 1979 graduate of Bishop Hafey High School. Jackie would then go on to attend the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts and graduated with a B.A. in dance in 1983. She spent many years performing for several companies in Philadelphia, where she danced and choreographed in multiple major productions.
Jackie was known for her extraordinary athleticism and ability to captivate an audience through her seemingly effortless dancing mastery. Cooking was another one of Jackie's many talents, that she learned from her beloved mother, Mary Apichella.
If you were lucky enough to meet Jackie, you couldn't help but be drawn to her bigger-than-life personality that was shown through her contagious sense of humor and ability to fill a room with laughter and love. She was absolutely gorgeous and her eyes were as blue as a clear summer's sky. She adored her parents, seven brothers and sisters and many friends, where she was filled with laughter and love during her childhood years in her Alter Street home. Being the youngest, in our hearts, she will always be the baby of the family.
Later in life, Jackie returned to Hazleton to help take care of her father as he battled cancer.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Timothy and Mary Donahue, who she loved very much and had many fond memories and moments with; and brother and sister, Michael Donahue and Frances Donahue-Zancolli.
She is survived by her siblings, Mary Lou Morda; Joanne Magras; Claire "DeeDee" Gawinowicz; Regina "Gina" Donahue; and Thomas "Tommy" Donahue; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral arrangements, under the direction of the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, will be announced in an upcoming edition of the Standard Speaker.
