James R. Mulhall passed away Monday at Montgomery Hospital, Md.
Born in Upper Lehigh at his grandmother's house, he was the son of the late James A. Mulhall and Helen (Hatrock) Mulhall.
Jim enjoyed being with people and was an avid Yankees fan who loved to watch college football.
He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Church, Freeland, American Legion Post 473 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5010 and a life member of the Jeddo Stars.
Jim was a 1958 graduate of Foster Twp. High School and went on to join the U.S. Army, where he spent two years in Germany from 1959 to 1961 and then was stationed stateside for one year serving at various bases. He then enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1962 until 2000, serving with the 103rd Armor based in Hometown, and retired in 2000, where he received many medals and citations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Humanitarian SVC Medal, Good Conduct Medal and many others.
He retired from Bemis Corp. in 2001 after 35 years of service working in the bagging department along with holding the position of president of Local 7355 Graphics Printers Union for a few terms.
He was the last surviving member of his parents and siblings.
Preceding him in death, besides his parents, were a brother, Barry; sister, Marilyn (Potocheney) Mulhall; and his wife of 47 years, Audrey (Nemchick) Mulhall.
He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Evans and husband, Shawn, Hazleton; and Kerry Spicer and husband, Richard, Laurel, Md.; along with two granddaughters, Shanna Glestein, New Jersey; and Shayla Evans, Hazleton; two great-grandsons, SJ and Brayden; niece, Shannon Mehalick; and nephew, James.
Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Freeland.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at McNulty Funeral Home, 494 E. Butler Drive, Freeland.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
American Legion Post 473 and VFW Post 5010 will accord services graveside.
Donations may be made to St. Mary's Byzantine Church, 643 Fern St., Freeland, PA 18224.
