Joan Sando Obituary

Joan M. Sando, 80, of Hazleton, passed away Tuesday at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, were she had been a guest.

She was born in Hazleton, daughter of the late Joseph and Isabel (Makuta) Myers. She was a member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Freeland.

Prior to retiring, she was employed as a secretary for Transfiguration Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sando, in 2009; and brothers, William and Robert Myers.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Joseph Myers and his wife, Karen, Long Island, N.Y.; Maureen Cherenyack and her husband, Robert, Sugarloaf Twp.; Robert Myers and his wife, Cynthia, Newport Richie, Fla.; Patricia Myers, Schwenksville; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Freeland. Family will receive friends and relatives from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

Arrangements are under the direction of Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., Hazleton.
