Joann (Kennedy) Babbish, 76, of Hazleton, passed away Thursday in Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Ronald Babbish for 54 years.
Born in Hazleton, Joann was the daughter of the late Robert and Jean (Esposito) Kennedy.
She was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Hazleton.
Joann loved spending time with her family, especially fishing and boating with her husband Ronnie. She enjoyed working at Helping Hands Society not only for the kids but the friends that turned into family. Joann took great pride in her cooking and weekly trips to get her hair done by her sister and brother.
In addition to her husband, Ronald, Joann is survived by her children, Brian and Dawn Daniels; Rhonda and Mark Leshko; Robin and Brian Malore; Joann and the late John Thomas Sr.; and Ronald and Krista Babbish; siblings, Robert, Marybeth and Kimberly; and eight grandchildren.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lamar Christ Funeral Home, 31 Mahanoy Ave., Tamaqua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Church of St. Gabriel, Holy Annunciation Parish, 122 S. Wyoming St., Hazleton. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until the start of Mass in the church.
Burial will follow in Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Drums.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joann's name may be made to Helping Hands Society, 301 Rocky Road, Hazleton, PA 18201.

Dear Ronnie and family, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Joann. She was such a wonderful and kind person. I have many great memories of all the good times spent with your family. I'll always remember the pics Ronnie would fwd to me of Joann holding her catch of the day on the fishing trips with Ronnie at stilcreek
