John "Jack" Butcher of Delray Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully Nov. 7.
He was the husband of his devoted and loving wife, Gayle.
Also surviving are his sons, John, Thomas, Barry and Stephen Butcher and Jeff Werner; daughters, Bonnie Hamp and Lisa Werner Lotterman; and numerous grandchildren and cousins.
Born and raised in McAdoo, he was the son of the late Stephen Butcher. He was a graduate of Marion High School.
Jack worked as general manager and salesman at Stephen Butcher Inc., the Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth dealership on Broad Street, Hazleton, for 25 years. At the Chrysler dealership, he was known as "Generous Jack."
While in the Hazleton area, he was a member of St. John Bosco Parish, Conyngham.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fly fishing with his brother, Mike, and son, Tom.
After 25 years in Hazleton, he relocated to Wilkes-Barre, where he began a very successful career at MotorWorld at the Lexus dealership. He was highly respected in the industry and very active in the community.
During this chapter of his life, he met and married his wife, Gayle. They shared 27 years of a wonderful marriage and retired to Delray Beach, Fla., in 2015.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy "Dottie" LaCrosse Butcher; and a brother, Stephen "Mike" Butcher.
Family and friends are invited to prayers of committal and a final blessing offered by Deacon Leonard Kassick at 12:30 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph B. Conahan Funeral Home Inc., 532 N. Vine St., Hazleton.
