Joseph Motil Jr., 81, of Harwood, passed away Thursday morning in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.
He was born in Hazleton, the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Honis) Motil Sr. Joe was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Sheppton.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for 32 years at All Steel as an assembler, and for The Hazleton Area School District in the maintenance department for 10 years. Joe was a member of the Harwood Fire Company, the Musicians Union, and played the drums in the 4 Notes Band.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his patents, were a sister-in-law, Carol Novitsky; a brother-in-law, Albert Moran; and two nephews, Anthony and Michael (Misue) Novitsky.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marie (Moran) Motil; two sons, Michael Motil, Concord, S.C.; and Joseph R. Motil and wife, Andrea, Tarpon Springs, Fla.; two granddaughters, Lille Motil and Carys Motil; brother-in-law, Carl Novitsky, Old Cranberry; and sister-in-law, Joan Moran, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held with a Divine Liturgy with the Office of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's B.C. Church, Sheppton. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday in the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., 542 N. Wyoming St., Hazleton.
