Joseph B. Vitro, 81, of Hazleton passed away Saturday.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Stella (Narolewski) Vitro and was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Hazleton.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. He was stationed in Germany in the Fourth Armored Division and attained the rank of specialist 4. After his time in the service, he began his lifelong career as a lineman for PP&L.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his son, Joseph A. Vitro.
Surviving are his sons, Anthony and wife, Ashleigh, with their two sons, Mason and Logan, Texas; and Mark and wife, Mari, with their daughter, Mira, and son, Michael, Delaware; sister, Pat Rubinate and husband, Jack; as well as a sister, Carol Ann Vitro; and many nieces and nephews.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Rosary Church, Hazleton.
Burial will follow the service at Holy Trinity German Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday.
Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (www.vfw.org), which they know Joe enjoyed hanging out with friends and fellow veterans.

I grew up with Joe and his sisters. We shared many wonderful memories, the last was at the HHS Class of 58 reunions. I will miss you Joe.
