Mary Helen Thomas, 88, of Lattimer passed away peacefully Monday at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazle Twp.
Born and raised in Lattimer, she was the daughter of Dominic and Mary (Simone) Damiano and was a lifelong resident of Lattimer.
Mary was a 1951 graduate of Hazle Twp. High School. After graduation, she was a sewing machine operator at various garment industries in the area. She began her second career as general manager of Fierro's Market, Lattimer, a position she enjoyed for many years.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was sharing her life with family. She loved having everyone at home, laughing, preparing favorite dishes and holding court at the kitchen table. Simple pleasures made her the happiest. She cherished her children and grandchildren, and in return they cherished Mary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph James Thomas, in 2002; and her daughter, Michele Rigotti, in 2003. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Joseph, William and Michael Damiano; and one sister, Caroline Lyons.
Mary is survived by her loving and devoted children, her son, James Thomas and wife, Mary E. Seliga Thomas, Lattimer; and daughter, Mariann Grogan and husband, Justin, Ashville, N.C, and her children, Quinn and Teddy.
Also surviving are her grandsons, Danny Rigotti and wife, Jodi; and Sean Rigotti and wife, Rachel.
Mary will live in the hearts of her family and friends because of the love she left behind.
The family thanks Kathy, Cindy and Barbara for their kindness and care
