Robert "Tim" Roman, 79, of Rush Twp. passed away peacefully at home on Monday, surrounded by his family.
Tim was born Monday, Nov. 23, 1942, in Philadelphia, the son of the late Harry and Katherine (Sabulsky) Roman. He was predeceased by his companion of 20 years, Mary Zapotosky; and son, Timmy Roman.
Tim was a devoted family man who oversaw a large extended family. Surviving are sons, Roger McDuffie and his wife, Angela; Daniel Roman and his partner, Jon; Michael McDuffie; daughters, Lisa Lutz, Diane Rauseo and Aimee Roman; brother, William Roman and his wife, Rose; parallel family, Jason Zapotosky and his wife, Tiffany; Tyler Zapotosky; Star Joyce and her husband, John; Brittany Zapotosky; Ashley Zapotosky; and Vanessa Zapotosky; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A roofer and truck driver by trade, Tim was also an established farmer in his community. Known for his easy smile, sense of humor and generosity in always being willing to help a neighbor, he had many friends who loved him in addition to his family. Tim enjoyed gardening, playing cards, shooting pool, making boilo and kept his mind sharp doing crossword puzzles. Living on the farm, Tim enjoyed birdwatching and all the wildlife and nature that surrounded him.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, 570-668-2550.
A celebration of Tim's life will be held Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. from the funeral home. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services.
