Sandra I. (Boerner) Houser, 83, formerly of Hollywood and a resident of Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazle Twp., died Monday morning at Mountain City.
Born Feb. 25, 1938, in Dundalk, Md., Sandra was the daughter of the late Ernest and Blanche (Herron) Boerner and was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, Hazleton.
Early in her working career she was employed as a machine operator for various area garment factories and was most recently employed in the custodial department at the Hazleton Area Career Center. For many years she was also known locally for having sold AVON products.
Sandra enjoyed going to yard sales, collecting, buying and selling Depression glassware. She loved her Cadillacs and Yorkshire Terriers and truly cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Donald Houser Sr.; brothers, Edward Boerner, Ernest Boerner Jr. and William Boerner; and sister, Beverly Parise.
Surviving are her daughters, Debra Giranda and her husband, Dean, Drums; Susan Rossi and her husband, David, Drums; and Kathleen Dempsey and her husband, Fran, North Fort Myers, Fla.; son, Donald Houser Jr. and his wife, Cheri, Freeland; grandchildren, Ralph Rossi, Jason Giranda, Jennifer Lauver, Anthony Badamo, Christina Badamo, Dawn Marie Houser and Rebecca Houser; along with several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Dolores Milazzo and her husband, Ronald, Hollywood; brother-in-law, William Parise, Sugarloaf Twp.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday from Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory, 530 W. Butler Drive, Drums. The Rev. M. Jane Hess will preside.
Burial will follow in St. Johns Lutheran and United Church of Christ Cemetery, St. Johns.
Friends may call for a viewing period that will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
