Thomas Dura Obituary

Thomas Dura Sr., 84, of Kelayres, died peacefully on Thursday next to his grandson.

Born in Hazleton on December 31, 1937, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Lesofsky) Dura. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former June Streeshock; and his siblings William Jr., Robert, Jacqueline, Helen, Ralph and Daniel. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was of the Catholic faith.

A veteran of United States Army Service, he was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ, and was honorably discharged in 1959 with the rank of SP4(T) (E-4). He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

Surviving are his son Thomas Dura, Jr., of Hazleton; his daughter Tara Forrester, of Nanticoke; his grandchildren Thomas III and his fiancé Kimberly, Ryan, Daniel and Vincent; his great-grandchildren T.J., Ava, Aliya; and Ryan Jr; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Drums, on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Pusti Funeral Home, Inc., 480 W. Broad St., Hazleton.
