Christopher McKlevis Obituary
8/20/1955-3/16/2015
Born in Elmira, NY: Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Madeline (Coe) McKlevis; stepmom, Anna McKlevis; brother, Joseph; and brothers in law, Raymond Bellinger and Austin Thomas. Christopher is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy (Hulslander) McKlevis, with whom he would have shared 35 years of marriage on May 9, 2015; loving daughters, Jennifer and Erin McKlevis; granddaughter, Mya Raelynn McKlevis, who has his whole heart, she was his world; siblings, Mary Thomas, Patricia (Wes) Grist, Kathy Bellinger, Daniel (Cammy), Robert (Jeanette), Michael (Vickie); in laws, Raymond and Barbara Weiland, Glenn and Carol Hulslander; sister in law, Deanna (Wayne) Acly; brother in law, John (Stephanie) Hulslander; numerous nieces and nephews; special niece Kelley Bellinger, who in his final days helped keep him comfortable, thank you; and his loving canine companion Spooki. Elmira Free Academy class of 1974. Proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1974-1977. He was a City of Elmira crossing guard and bartender for the Catholic War Veterans. He very much enjoyed all of the friendships he made while bartending and the patrons very much enjoyed him. "He is the fastest...most efficient bartender we have here tonight." "Today our family lost a giant, not just because he was a big man, but because the only thing larger than him was his heart. The family chef, the family bartender, our Santa Claus at Christmas, stalwart Yankees fan and for 35 years a most loving husband to my cousin Wendy McKlevis, fantastic father to Jennifer McKlevis and Erin McKlevis and over the top granddad. We will miss your laugh, your sarcasm, but mostly we will miss your love. RIP Chris McKlevis." -Jim Bramble In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Chris's name to CareFirst (Hospice) 11751 E. Corning Rd., Corning, NY 14830 or to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Family will receive friends at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 2 PM to 5 PM. Funeral and Committal Services will follow at 5 PM. Interment will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. Christopher's guestbook may be signed in obituaries at www.olthof.com.

We were step brothers, and I only knew Chris when he was young, as I moved from the area a long time ago. Chris was very good to my mother, his step-mother, and we were friends. Chris was a good kid and will be missed by all. My prayers to his family and friends.

I just want to start off by saying to aunt Wendy, Jennifer, Erin, and Mya that I'm sorry for the loss of uncle Chris. Can can only imagine how you're feeling? I will miss him very much! He was a great man! Him and I have always got along. Probably because we both have kinda of the same personality!? Him and I have had a lot of fun. Joking around with each other or just shooting the breeze. When I lived NY I would stop by and talk to him when he was a crossing guard. When I was a kid he would squeeze my cheeks and say "chubby cheeky Bobby"! Seeing that I'm living in MO and you all are in NY. This is the only way at the moment to say my good byes. You were definitely one of my favorite uncles! Love and miss you uncle Chrisy! Until we meet again... yer nephew... Chubby Cheeky Bobby!

The last I saw Chris was when he was in his late teens. I was very shocked to learn of his passing. Chris was a fun person and always had a smile and a friendly word. He will be missed. I am so sorry for his family.
