Frank Spallone Obituary

Pellor and Spallone, Frank & Grace, Frank & Laura

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elmira's South side on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Immediately following the Mass, a graveside service will be held at St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery. The memorial is to celebrate the life and legacy of Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Grace Spallone) Pellor and Mr. & Mrs. Frank (Laura Nichols) Spallone. Frank and Laura Spallone left a richly textured legacy seeped in history and tradition dating back to the 1600's. A Yankee girl (as she liked to be referred to), was born in Lindley, NY in 1887. Frank Spallone was born in Italy and entered this country by way of Ellis Island, NY, circa 1895. As the story was told, the Spallone family was one of the first founders and depositors of the Bank of America (then called Bank of Italy in San Francisco, CA). Grace (Spallone) Pellor was very devoted to her children; and, coupled with Frank's charismatic personality, they forged an alliance that is bringing their children full circle. They both died much too young. Traditions are to be held in high self esteem. They bring honor to a culture mirrored in the darkness and brightness of history, and blesses all that crosses its path. May we as their ancestors be so fortunate to follow on our path to redemption. May we celebrate the traditions yet to come. This is our legacy to share.

In memory of my mother, Roberta Donna (Pellor) Smith's Dad (Grandpa Pellor to me) I would like to share a few words. I remember him with fondness. His influence in my mom's life was hugh. What he gave to his daughter she passed on to me. Rest in Peace Grandpa. Hope to see you again someday...
