Jane Jones Obituary

Jane Rickey Age 87, of Elmira, NY, died on Monday, February 9, 2004, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born on August 6, 1916 to Branch and Jane Moulton Rickey in St. Louis, MO. Jane Rickey married Robert T. Jones, a high school beau on December 18th, 1942. Jane is survived four children, Christine, Robert Terry, Jeffrey and Matthew; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Rickey Eckler and Elizabeth Rickey Wolfe. Jane was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Jones, the former Arnot Ogden Medical Center Administrator. Mrs. Jones attended John Burroughs School in St. Louis, Ohio Wesleyan University and the Chicago Art Institute where she studied art and sculpture. She played tennis, golf, field hockey, raised Dalmatians, gardened, fished and played bridge with the best of them. In the Elmira community she was a founding member of the Friends of the Steele Memorial Library, an active member of the Arnot Ogden Auxiliary, the Arnot Art Gallery and The Literacy Foundation. Mrs. Jones belonged to the Elmira Country Club, Elmira City Club and Wednesday Morning Club. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her humor, her joy of life, her love of beauty, her thrill in risk and her indomitable spirit. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 1054 W. Clinton St., Elmira, on Saturday, February 14, at 12 Noon, Rev. David Kwon officiating. Interment of Jane's ashes will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, March 1st, 2004 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, send memorials to the Community Foundation of the Elmira Corning Area Inc.: the Robert T.
