Joan Sheahan Obituary

Joan A. Loving Aunt Age 67, died Friday, May 9, 2002 unexpectedly at home in Elmira. Joan was born November 5, 1934, daughter of the late Lawrence and Genevieve (Packard) Sheahan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Jean Glanton and brother, Lawrence Sheahan, both of Elmira. Joan is survived by several nephews and nieces, Mary Joan Collins of Elmira, Lawrence (Karen) Glanton of Trumansburg NY, Margaret (Robert) Jarecke of Penn Yan NY, Denis (Julie) Glanton of Syracuse NY and Timothy Glanton of Elmira; her brother-in-law, Peter J. Glanton of Elmira; great nieces and nephews, Michael and Kathleen Collins, Katelyn Glanton, Anthony Giangarra, Kevin, Shannon and Zachary Glanton. Joan retired from GMAC Finance in 1983. She was a charter member of what is now the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 from 8:15 A.M. to 9:15 A.M. A Prayer Service will be held at 9:15 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter & Paul's Church, Elmira. Interment will be in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a reception at the Hibernian Club following the services. Donations in Joan's memory may be directed to Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira NY 14903 or to St. Peter & Paul's Church, 161 High Street, Elmira NY 14901.
