John Hoke Obituary

John E., Sr. Age 75, of Beaver Dams, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born on October 18, 1930 in Unity Township, Pennsylvania, the son of Harry Edwin and Goldie R. Elliott Hoke. He married Elaine Bennett on April 19, 1952 in Painted Post. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, a member of the Grace Lee Memorial Wesleyan Church, member of the Chemung Valley Old Times Association, retired from Anchor Glass in 1992, and was an avid hunter. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine; sons and daughter-in-law, John Hoke, Jr. of Mt. Holly, North Carolina, and Kenneth and Sandy Hoke of York, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Patrick Sullivan of Syracuse, NY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Sylvia Hoke of Himrod, NY, Richard and Anna Hoke of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Kenneth and Joyce Hoke of Penn Yan, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Belle and Lloyd Isbell of Beaver Dams; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Hoke; and sister, Irene Foley. It was John's wish that there be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Grace Lee Memorial Wesleyan Church, 2069 Chambers Road, Beaver Dams, NY. Burial will take place at Beaver Dams Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Carpenter's Funeral Home. www.carpentersfuneralhome.com
