BUCKLEY Joseph E.
Age 83 of Durham, CT formerly of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday April 30, 2008. Joe was born September 22, 1924 in Penn Yan, NY the son of the late Joseph M. and Mary Nielan Buckley. He was also pre-deceased by his sister Jane Buckley Chapman and his brothers Robert, Gerald, and Harold Buckley. Mr. Buckley was a Veteran of WW II serving his country with The US Army 17th Airborne Division attaining the rank of Sergeant. Joe married his wife Joyce Anderson Buckley, on October 2, 1948 and she pre-deceased him on June 28, 1991. Mr. Buckley was a Heavy Equipment Operator and member of The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 832 of Rochester, NY. Joe loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them especially watching his grandchildren growing up and attending their games and various school functions. He was an avid New York Mets and New York Giants fan and golfer. Mr. Buckley is survived by his loving and devoted children Susan & John Sullivan of Elmira, NY and their children Sandi (William) Albert and her children Billy and Samantha, Meghan Sullivan, and Joseph Sullivan; Bernard "Bernie" Buckley of Horseheads, NY and his children Shawn Buckley, Kelly Buckley, and Ryan Buckley; Mary Jo & James Clark of Rocky Hill, CT and their sons Alexander Clark and Zachary Clark; Teresa & Hugh Pearson of Durham, CT and their daughters Katharine Pearson and Allison Pearson; sisters and brother-in-law: Winifred Arnold of Elmira, NY and Joan and Bruce Haskell of Elmira, NY; brother and sisters-in-law: Paul & Jean Buckley of Horseheads, NY Shirlee (Mrs. Gerald) Buckley of CT; Ellen (Mrs. Robert) Buckley of Penn Yan, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY on Friday May 2, 2008 from 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Thomas O'Brien on Saturday May 3, 2008 at 10 AM in St. Patrick's Church in Elmira, NY. Joe will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Joyce in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Buckley. The family will provide their own flowers and those wishing may remember Mr. Buckley through memorials to The American Heart Association Heart Gifts Processing Center P.O.
