Daisy Lucas Obituary

Daisy Frances Bane Lucas, 97, of Culpeper died Monday, January 16, 2006, at Autumn Care of Madison. She was born June 17, 1908 in Culpeper to the late Norman Henry Bayne and Frances Elizabeth Kerns Bayne, and was the oldest of eleven. Mrs. Lucas joined Black Oak Regular Baptist Church in 1936 and was currently the oldest member. She was a Sunday school teacher for fifteen years and clerk of the church for twenty-one years. After the death of her husband, Silas she made her home with her sister, Julia in 1961, until she entered the nursing home in 2002. Mrs. Lucas is survived by two sisters, Julia Sisk of Culpeper and Ada Marie Smith of Culpeper; four grandchildren, Willis Jeffrey Scott and his wife, Nancy of Yorktown, Va., Cheryl Ann Oscar and her husband, Frank of Norfolk, James Marvin Scott and his wife, Kim of Millsap, Tx., and Elizabeth Jane Scott of Sterling; five great grandchildren, Christina, Meghan, Samantha, Weston and Tristin Scott and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Marvin Lucas, one daughter, Roberta Jane Lucas Scott, five brothers, Johnnie, Richard, Willie, Benjamin and Charlie Bayne, and three sisters, Mary Woodward, Ella Woodward and Katherine Kerns. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Rapidan, Family Care Home Health and Hospice, and Autumn Care of Madison for their care and time during Daisy's illness. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 19, at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Elder Wayne Richards officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Black Oak Regular Baptist Church, c/o Barbara Tharp, 426 Jenkins Ave., Culpeper, VA 22701. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is handling the arrangements.
