Loretta Mullen Obituary

Loretta A resident of St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Unit, died on January 20th, 2004. Born in Milltown in 1915, she was the daughter of Anthony and Lena Sperduti. Loretta was a life-long resident of Sayre and a member of Epiphany Church and it's Altar & Rosary Society. She graduated from Sayre High School in 1933 and completed a post-graduate business course the following year, while working as an aide at Tioga General Hospital. In 1941, she was licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of NY, working in the Emergency Room, as an X-ray Technician and as a community nurse. She held fond memories of her years as the ambulance nurse for JE Ranch, Spencer Picnic and the Fair. She married Joseph F. Mullen in 1945. They resided their entire married life on Stedman St. Loretta, who was a world-class mother, is survived by sons, Thomas and Cathy, Patrick and Celeste, Tony and Barbara, Joseph and Theresa; and daughter, Kathleen and Robert Huddle; sisters, Gertrude Boyajian, and Dorothy Soprano; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; mother, father; sisters and their spouses, Mary and Dick Anthony, Josephine and Pat Soprano; brothers-in-law, Harold Boyajian, and Leonard Soprano; and her dear daughter, Mary Sheila Henry. At Loretta's request, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of McKee Memorial Chapel, Waverly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Epiphany Church at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 26th. Burial at Epiphany Cemetery will be at a later time. Loretta's family gives their heart-felt thanks to the nurses, aides and staff at St. Joseph's 5th floor Skilled Nursing Unit, most especially to Sister Marie Michael. The family will provide the flowers and those wishing to remember Loretta may make donations to St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Unit. Envelopes will be provided at the Mass.
