Lyle Wheeler Obituary
Age 77 of Laurel Hill Rd. in Erin passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 18, 2014. He was born Aug. 7, 1937 in Elmira to Harold and Lydia (Bixby) Wheeler. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda (Nichols) Wheeler; daughter and sons, Vicky (John) Bates, Mike (Pat) Wheeler, and Jeff (Terri Wheaton) Wheeler all of Erin, NY; grandchildren, Michael and Hannah Wheeler; sister, Elsie (Charlie) Carnes of Roaring Branch, PA; brothers, Richard (Charlotte) Jenkins of Pine City, NY, David (Barb) Jenkins also of Pine City. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Harold Terry, Bruce, and Derwin Wheeler. Lyle was a longtime driver for Chemung Supply in Elmira Heights. He was a hard working man always lending a hand. He drove wrecker, raced at Chemung Speedway, enjoyed motorcycles, tractors and time with family. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Wed. Oct. 22, 2014 from 3-4:00 p.m. His service will follow there at the funeral home at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gail Wilson officiating. Condolence and remembrances at www.barberfuneralhome.com

I am so glad I got to visit with Lyle when I was home over the Summer, after so many years...I will cherish our time together. I am keeping you all close in my thoughts and prayers... I'm so sorry to hear of Uncle Lyle paasing. I will always remember him fondly and will never forget the 1964&1/2 Mustang he gave me that my dad never finished the floor boards in for me..I so wanted to drive that car cos it's always been my favorite car but dad sold it. Not fair cos it was mine from Uncle Lyle. R.I.P Uncle Lyle I will never forget you!
