Marion Maloney Obituary
Marion G. Loving and Devoted Mother and Grandmother Age 91, of Elmira, NY took her place with God in Heaven and rejoined her beloved spouse, J. William Maloney on February 12, 2004. She was surrounded by her 5 children at the time of her death. Mrs. Maloney was born in Elmira on September 27, 1912 to George and Ella Meagher Griffis. She was a graduate of Elmira College in 1934. Mrs. Maloney was a woman of great faith who lived the Gospel of Jesus Christ each day. She had a daily devotion to mass, the rosary and her extensive hour-long prayer list. Each and everyday she expressed her gratitude for everything God had given her. Mrs. Maloney was the undisputed matriarch of her family and she led by example. She was a kind, humble compassionate and witty woman who possessed and imparted profound words of wisdom. She had an unconditional love and support for her children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors. Mrs. Maloney was an avid card player. She was a member of a bridge club that has been together for 75 years with Kathleen O'Herron and Jeannette Sweeney being the surviving members. Mrs. Maloney was a life long communicant of St. Cecelia's Church and a current communicant of St. Patrick's Church. She was predeceased in 1990 by her devoted husband of 50 years J. William Maloney, Sr. Mrs. Maloney is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, J. William and Sylvia Maloney, Jr., George E. and Dianne Maloney; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ellen and Dennis Coseo, Elizabeth Barnoski of Syracuse, NY and Kathleen and Gregory Conlon; grandchildren, John (Julie) Maloney, Susan Maloney, Anne (Jerry) Laney, William Maloney, Kathleen (Louis) Viselli, Christine (Thomas) Shea, Dennis (Jennifer) Coseo, Anne Coseo, Matthew Coseo, Michael (Kara) Maloney, Daniel (Susan) Maloney, Tina Maloney, Maria Maloney, Emmi Barnoski, Katelyn Conlon and Kevin Conlon; along with 13 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Sunday, February 15, 2004 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 16, 2004 at 9:15 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Donations in Mrs. Maloney's memory may be directed to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, 945 County Route 64, Elmira, NY 14903.
