Loving husband, father and grandfather
Age 77, of Millport, NY. He was born July 7, 1930 in Olean, NY, son of the late Orrin P., Sr. and Pearl (Carlson) Oakley, and passed away Friday, November 2, 2007, at home after an extended illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas Oakley in 1969; brother, James Oakley; sisters, Betty Redding and Dolores Bryant; and is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Ann (Folts) Oakley; children and their spouses, Terry and Rhonda Oakley of Millport, NY, Tracy Oakley of Campbell, CA, Tamra and John Jankowski of Watkins Glen, NY; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Mr. Oakley graduated from Hinsdale (NY) High School and Buffalo State University. He was employed with Dresser-Clark in Olean for 20 years and then with SCT BOCES in Horseheads, retiring after 23 years of service. Mr. Oakley was a NYS Fire Instructor for Cattaraugus and Chemung Counties; was a member of the Montour Moose Club, Horseheads Elks Club; was a 48 year member of the Masons and currently a member of the Horseheads Old Oak Lodge F & AM. He operated Bus's Chicken Barbeque at the Eldridge Park Carousel. As his final gift, Orrin donated his body to medical research in the hope of benefiting others.
