Peter Ogunwumi Obituary
Elmira: Age 45 of Pratt St. in Elmira went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Aug. 25, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Andrea (Miles) Ogunwumi; His father, Solomon Ogunwumi living in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa; Brothers, Steven (Roychelle) Ogunwumi of Painted Post, NY, Samuel (Victoria) Ogunwumi, Michael (Gurmah) Ogunwumi, Sister, Rachel Ogunwumi all of Monrovia, Liberia West Africa, Sisters-in-law, Marcy (Melvin) Pride of Moneta, VA, Brenda (Stacey) Lewis of Sandston, VA, Cousin, Randy (Marian) Henderson of Webster, NY; Several nieces and nephews including Angel Nash, Kemi and Patience Ogunwumi. Many special friends including, The Rev. Dr. Micheal (Rhonda) Spencer, Seun (Milton) Holmes of Lanham, MD, Pastor Matthew (Sarah) Umorem of Boston, MA, Pastor David (Esther) Osho of Houston, TX. Prophet Peter was also predeceased by his mother, Sarah and brother, Emmanuel Ogunwumi. Prophet Peter was formerly employed at the Chemung County Nursing Facility and more recently the founder and President of Ogunwumi Ministries in Elmira and the Alliance of Prayer, a 300 member international prayer network. Prophet Peter was extremely proud of his naturalization in 2006. He was a graduate of the University of Liberia and Zion Bible College in Barrington, RI and served as a member of the chaplaincy team at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira. Prophet Peter served in ministries at Faith to Face Ministries in Corning, NY and was also active with his family at His Tabernacle Family Church in Horseheads where he was a member of the Senior Leadership Team and an instructor at their Bible College. He was a supporter of Zion Bible College Alumni Association and an active volunteer of the Economic Opportunity Program, Inc. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life to take place at His Tabernacle Family Church, 16 Level Acres Dr., Horseheads on Wednesday Aug. 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM, the Rev. Dr. Micheal Spencer will officiate. His interment service will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads. Family and friends are also invited to repass at His Tabernacle Family Church immediately following the interment service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Prophet Peter with memorials to His Tabernacle Family Church, 16 Level Acres Dr., Horseheads, NY 14845 or the Economic Opportunity Program, Inc., 650 Baldwin St., Elmira, NY 14901. Andrea, it was with great shock that I heard of his passing. We thank God for his life and friendship. May the Lord strengthen you during this difficult time. The last time I saw you two was at our graduation at Zion. Great man of God and prayer warrior he was. My prayers are with the whole family and especially for Andrea.

Prophet Ogunwumi was known to me as Mr. Ogun math teacher extraordinare! A man of great integrity, intelligence, and fairness. He was my Math teacher in 10th and 11th grade. Even back then, we could sense the presence of God in his life.. This is truly a loss. Prophet Ogun will surely continue to live on in the many lives he impacted through his teachings both in the classroom and the church. Sincere condolences to the Ogunwumi family.

My heart feels heavy with the news of his passing :( I will surely miss seeing the two of you together at Ruby's for lunch! We had a few really nice chats... And what a powerhouse we was at church...
