Susan Estelle Mullin Watkins

- - Susan Estelle Mullin Watkins was born on January 8, 1945 in Elmira NY and on died January 25, 2019 in Rochester NY. Susan was the only child of Newell Disbro Mullin and Hannah Elizabeth Baker Mullin who preceded her in death in the 1980s. She was married for several years to Carl N. Watkins and they had a son, Sean. Carl preceded her in death in 2017. Susan is survived by her loyal companion of many years, David Shipman of Penn Yan NY, loving sons Sean C. Watkins of Phoenix AZ, and David L. Desmarais of Ogunquit ME, and their partners Kate and Tina. Also surviving are her dear cousins and many friends. Susan was a graduate of Southside High in Elmira (1963) and Syracuse University (1967) where she earned a dual degree in Journalism and Liberal Arts. In her early career, Susan was a reporter for the Elmira Star Gazette, Martha's Vineyard Gazette, and several Syracuse area newspapers. Later she was Co editor/Publisher of the Dundee Observer in partnership with her long-time friend Susan (Flood) McCann (A.K.A. The Snoop Sisters) and News Director for WFLR Radio, both of Dundee NY. Susan wrote several books including Conversations with Seth. She was an avid gardener and her flowers were well known to her neighbors. Her other interests included genealogy, bird watching, and baseball which she pursued as a voracious reader, fearless explorer and little league fan. At Susan's request there will be no funeral, instead a Celebration of Life event will be held later this year at a time and place to be advertised later in this publication. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to The University of Rochester Medical Center Palliative Care Program, Office of Advancement Unit 4-1200, P.O. Box 278996, 300 E. Susan, you were there for a reason, and was part of the Seth entity. We are deeply grateful for your contributions, though you apparently did not realize how far reaching it would be.

Sue and I shared a Jan 8 B'Day with Elvis... and we exchanged a few letters years ago (mid-late 90s). I wrote to her about having so much admired and enjoyed her books- including... well... ALL of them!.. ebut sp Dreaming Myself Creaming A Town... Speaking of Jane Roberts and the Conversations With Seth books which actually helped bring my husband and I into meeting and marrying each other!!.. Grateful beyond expression for that 'link up' via Sue - and for all the wonderful writing from Sue, too!

Having gotten recently FBacquainted with and fond of another friend of Sue's - and now ours, too adds yet another dimension.. (artist Dennis Conkin iof SF..). I look forward to meeting up with Sue aspects 'in person' in the grand scheme of somewhere/sometime-- the sense of connect is strong despite the fact that I only got as close in 'this' 3=D as visiting Dundee and her newspaper office and pulling into her driveway entrance...(despite a newspaper office friend telling me I should 'drop in' on Sue, I was skeptical about that advice having read her books-- but wrote later to her about how I had eschewed the advice to 'surprise' her and received some great letters in return.. Bon voyage and fond waves, Sue.. ! We have a bookshelf full of multiple copies of your books- and so much enjoy rereading from time to time!! THANK YOU!

Sue Watkins was an inspirational writer, psychic, gardener and dreamer, and she will be missed by thousands of us who have been reading her books. I would like to express sincere sympathy to her family in their loss of such a terrific person. We will miss her, and I am so sorry she is lost to us in physical reality. I actually cannot believe that she has gone.

Sue was a bright light and will be missed by thousands of her fans and readers. She was held in high regard and seemed unaware of it to a large degree. A very private individual yet one who shared meaningful and personal experiences of her life in her books. Such a talented, witty, intelligent, insightful - although we haven't been in touch lately, I will miss your physical presence.

To the Watkins family:
When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. May the wonderful treasures fill your hearts with love and bring you peace. May the memories of those days gone by, sustains you and warm your hearts in the days and years ahead. May the God of all comfort be with you during this difficult time of grief. Hosea 13:14 can help you cope with this tragic loss. Just knowing there's a hope for the ones we loss in death can be so reassuring. My deepest condolences to the entire family and friends.

Sue and I have been friends for nearly 20 years. I love her like a sister, and I'll miss her terribly. Dave Shipman said the University of Rochester Medical Center Palliative Care Program couldn't have been nicer, kinder, to Sue and to those who were there with her.
