Theresa Karney Obituary
Age 84 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Friday December 25, 2015. Theresa was born January 18, 1931 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Edwin and Ethel Comfort Hockstaff. She married her husband, Robert M. Karney, on July 3, 1954 and they celebrated their 61st Wedding anniversary on July 3, 2015. Theresa was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY. In addition to her parents, Theresa was pre-deceased by her four brothers and two sisters. Theresa was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. Theresa is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years Robert M. Karney; her beloved children: Michael & Nancy Karney of Horseheads, NY, Charles & Sheila Karney of Big Flats, NY, Karen & Steven Dibling of Athens ,GA, Mary Lou & Wes Stead of Corning, NY, and Cynthia "Cindy" & Marty Sambroski of Elmira, NY; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who were special and precious gifts to her; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Tuesday December 29, 2015 from 5-7 PM. Theresa's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 30, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY. Mrs. Karney will be laid to rest in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
