Walter Tillman

Walter R. Age 82, of Elmira, passed away peacefully, with his son and daughter-in-law, by his side, on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Walter was born April 14, 1924, in Watkins Glen, the son of William and Irene Maloney Tillman. He is predeceased by his wife, Mamie J. Tillman and son, William J. Tillman. Walter is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Walter D. and Roberta K. Tillman of Elmira, and Daniel J. and Carol Tillman of Illinois; grandchildren, Samantha, Danielle, Katherine, Michael John (Christy), and Melonie June Tillman; brother, John Tillman; and sister, Marie Clark, both of Florida; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran, serving his country during WWII. He was retired from NYSEG, where he had been a power plant superintendent. Walter was an avid woodworker and enjoyed building model airplanes. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen, NY.
