Audrey Saulsbury Duncan

1937 - 2017

EASTON - Audrey Saulsbury Duncan of Easton, MD, died at the Talbot Hospice House on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. She was 79. Born in Easton on July 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Merrick and Miriam Saulsbury. Growing up a lifelong resident of Talbot County, she was raised in Oxford and Trappe and graduated from Easton High School in 1955. She was a secretary at Easton High School before serving her long tenure of 47 years at the University of Maryland Extension Service, Talbot County.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and her beloved Labrador Retrievers. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following the Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terrapins basketball teams. Audrey was an active, long-time member of Talbot 4-H, both as a youth and an adult. A talented seamstress, one of her most notable sewing projects involved months of work helping to create a Wrights Brothers' replica airplane.
Audrey is survived by her husband of 58 years, Weber Duncan; her devoted brother, Steve Saulsbury and his beloved wife, Budgie Saulsbury; and a devoted sister-in-law, Barbara Saulsbury. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Jeff and Alisha Saulsbury; Matt and Kellie Saulsbury; Les Saulsbury; Amy and Kyle Hutchison; Jennifer and Warren Phillips; Edie and Eddie Bishop; Georgi and Alan Bishop; and her great nieces and nephews: Kendall, Sam, Porter Bishop; Lucas, Karli, Tucker Saulsbury; Morgan, Camryn, Peyton Phillips; Allie and Jack Hutchison; Connor and Blake Saulsbury; Dominick Wright and Olivia Robinson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1989 by her sister, Alice Saulsbury Matthews; a brother, W. Merrick Saulsbury Jr. in 2009; and a brother-in-law, Richard Porter Matthews in 1999.
Friends may visit the family at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, MD 21601 on Sunday, July 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 3, 11 a.m. at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 100 Peachblossom Road, Easton, MD 21601. Burial will follow at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, MD.
