Barbara Slaughenhoupt Obituary

Barbara Jean Slaughenhoupt age 89 died Friday, January 26th, 2024, at North Chase Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Wilmington, NC.

She was born January 22nd, 1935, to the late George and Florence Hahn of Knox, Pennsylvania. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years John E. Slaughenhoupt on July 22nd, 2017.

She grew up in Knox, PA and graduated in 1952 from White Memorial High School (Knox High School) which opened in 1901 and was closed due to construction in 1959.

Barbara was a loving wife and mother raising her four children. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Greensburg, PA. She worked in the food service industry for the Greensburg Salem School District for 25 years. She enjoyed working in the yard and was very meticulous about its appearance. She loved cardinals and would enjoy watching them in her bird feeders throughout her life. Mom loved all animals, especially her dogs.

Barbara is survived by her four children, Cindy Page of Greensburg, PA, Lee (Peter) Napoli of Marblehead, MA, George (Pam) Slaughenhoupt of Easton, MD, and John (Monica) Slaughenhoupt of Winnabow, NC. Five grandchildren, Bob and Ben Page, Christina (Mark) Schmidt, Taylor and Anna Slaughenhoupt, and eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Kerri Kahn MSN, FNP-C at Elderhaus PACE and the staff of North Chase Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their excellent and compassionate care of our Mother.

There will be a private service for family only. She will be interred along with her husband at Knox Union Cemetery, Knox, PA.
