Carol Ann (Siemer) Baines died of complications from pancreatic cancer on Jan. 10, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was 66 years old, born Oct. 12, 1951. Carol and her husband lived in the house they built on Kent Island for over 38 years. Carol was born in Baltimore, Md. Carol and her husband celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on Jan. 3.
Carol graduated with a Degree from Chesapeake College and also Catonsville College, then obtained registration as an occupational therapy assistant. She previously worked in the financial department at AAGH in Annapolis and a doctor's office in Annapolis. Carol attended flight training at the Bay Bridge Airport and flew a solo flight from Bay Bridge Airport to Easton Airport and back.
Carol was a loving giving person, always helping others with their problems. She had such a loving side to her and was never afraid to show it; when someone else was hurting, she wouldn't hesitate to reach out. She would see a need and fill it. She was a faithful, active member of Kent Island United Methodist Church for many years. Carol took great joy in serving her Lord by participating in acts of worship, helping to serve communion and praying with others. Until her illness prevented her attendance, she was an active member of two adult Sunday School classes. She also enjoyed serving with the Hospitality Ministry, leading people to fellowship together and sharing the joy she found in Jesus.
Carol enjoyed her art classes in downtown Stevensville and fellowship with other members of KIUMC. Carol was an active member of the Kent Island Cruisers car club, since the club originated in 1994. She was always a willing worker to promote the club, attended meetings and volunteered in many different capacities when the club sponsored an event.
Carol is survived by her husband, Richard Baines; sister, Susan Morrison; brothers, Steve and Jim Phillips; and stepson, Rick Wootten.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held at the Kent Island United Methodist Church in Chester, Md., on Monday Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. Family and friends may visit at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Chester, Md., on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 3 to 6 p.m.
