David Alan Caplan

David Alan Caplan, age 84, of St. Michael's, Maryland passed away peacefully Sunday, February 8, 2026.

David was a devoted husband to his wife Esther Caplan nee Fishell. They married in 1963. David was a loving father to his eldest son David M. Caplan. He was preceded in death by his youngest son Mark A. Caplan in 2018. David is survived by his wife, Esther, son David, granddaughter Shannon Siebers of Wisconsin, and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Ridgley, Maryland, David spent his formative years in St. Michaels. He graduated from St. Michael's high school. He moved away from college (University of North Carolina) and upon graduating he was commissioned an officer in the United States Navy. He served his country with honor throughout a distinguished 22-year military career. During his service he was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, Norfolk, Virginia, Bay City, Michigan, San Diego, California, San Francisco, California, Honolulu, Hawaii, and final MITMIC, VA.

Following his military service, David and Esther relocated to his childhood home in St. Michael's and entered the private sector where he built a successful career in transportation logistics.

David was also a long-time member of Easton Elks Lodge, Easton VFW, and American Legion. He found great joys in life's simple pleasures- fishing, sailing, traveling, and spending time with those he loved most. Known for his warmth, steady presence, and kind spirit, David left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Friends are invited to celebrate David's life on February 28, 2026, at the Easton Elks Lodge from 1 PM to 3 PM.
