Delia Denny Obituary
Delia was born September 29, 1933, in Easton, MD to the late Thomas Bartlett Bridges and Flora Bell Valiant Bridges. She graduated from St. Michaels High School. Shortly after graduation, Delia started her banking career of 60 years working her way up to Senior Vice President of Maryland National and was Senior Vice President and a founding member of Easton Bank and Trust.
She was active in many community and charitable organizations including The YMCA where she was the first woman President, The United Fund of Talbot Co, The Memorial Hospital as a board member, The Talbot Country Club, The Soroptimists, and The Festival of Trees. She received many awards for her community service and banking. She served as a mentor to many young women entering the banking profession. She was known for being professional and compassionate to the needs of her coworkers and clients.
Delia also was known as Nana to many, whether family or friends. She leaves behind her beloved family. Daughter Beth Spencer Hill, grandchildren Chris Metz (Dee) and Sara Metz Dyott (Buddy). She loved time with her great grandchildren Kelsi Dyott (Ryan), Tobi Metz, Katelyn Metz and Dawson Dyott. She was fortunate enough to have five generations with her great, great granddaughter Blair Taylor. Delia is also survived by Sharon Denny (Kim).
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, James D. Spencer and William S. Denny, her dearest friend Thomas Keating, and two brothers, Bartlett V. Bridges and E. MacDonald Bridges.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 24, 2023, from 5-7pm at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 200 S. Harrison St. Easton, MD 21601. Services will be held Saturday March 25, 2023, at 1pm at St. Mark's United Methodist Church Peachblossom Road, Easton, MD 21601. The burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a Talbot County charity of your choice.
