Guy Willey Obituary

Guy Crawford Willey, Jr. passed away on August 26, 2024, at Arcadia of Denton. He was 90 years old.

Guy was born on June 8, 1934, in Vienna, MD, son of the late Guy Crawford Willey Sr. and Rose McNett Willey. He grew up in Oxford, MD and farmed as a young boy with his father and found odd jobs to earn extra money. He eventually moved to Wilmington, DE where he stayed until 2010 when he moved to Preston, MD.

Guy served honorably in the U.S. Army as an M.P. from 1954-1957. Upon leaving the Army, he began working for Dupont Aviations at Wilmington Airport, refurbishing airplane interiors.

Guy met his fiancé, Jeannette Howell in Oxford where they attended school together. After finishing school, life took them in different directions, and they went their separate ways. Many years later they were reconnected through a friend and have been inseparable for the last 15 years.

He is survived by his fiancé, Jeanette Howell, his children; Guy Willey III of Smyrna, DE, and step-daughter, Denise Gropp of Wilmington, DE, as well as the children of his fiancé: Rose Wooters, Diane Baxter and Pam Ross of Easton; Timothy Larmore and Ida Bures of Preston, his sisters; Nancy Thompson and Lillian Lord of Oxford, MD, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved and cared for him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Ogdon.

Guy never met a stranger, always spoke the truth, had a loving heart and would do anything to help someone in need. His infectious smile and laughter and love for life will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
